Shalom House is a family-oriented service, aiming to provide a "home away from home" catering to the holistic needs of the residents. Those in crisis will find prompt assistance in the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual areas with a view to minimising the likelihood of enforced hospitalisation.
Shalom House is open 7 days a week from 6am to 8pm. Fees apply for the service and information can be provided at point of contact. Family and community visits are encouraged.
Shalom House has residential services level 3 accreditation. We operate three houses and each house/area accommodates residents who share similar needs and habits. Residents have use of kitchen and laundry facilities. We strive to help the residents feel loved, cared for and accepted. Shalom House is designed to be a place where the residents can find comfort, peace and inner health.
We provide clean and appropriately maintained accommodation for long-term, short-term and respite residents with low-care mental illness. Residents have privacy and independence, protection from abuse and neglect and access to external service providers. We operate three houses and each house/area accommodates residents who have similar needs and habits.
To support the recovery of residents, we provide good, nutritious meals in a safe and hygienic manner. Lunch and dinner are catered at specific times with breakfast being in the resident's own timing. Residents have access to kitchen facilities, outside catering hours.
We provide medication management and assistance with health care services. Counselling is available, as is access to other external support services. We provide help and instruction with clothing, hygiene and room cleaning. We provide opportunities for leisure activities and social networking.
